I'm planning on getting a local shop build me a 4L80E with manual valve body for my street/strip project next month. Driveability isn't a big concern for me but I want to know what to expect from a manual valvebody especially when slowing down or downshifting.

I've heard some advice like this, since autos down have a clutch downshifting is a little tricky especially if you are off the throttle like slowing down at a stoplight.

You upshift and downshift with the shift lever in a manner that is close to the same transmission shifting automatically. It's not rocket science.
