Call Dave at Circle D Transmissions. I think their built 4L60E is about $2450.00 and it will take all you can throw at it. We ran ours for 2 years running high 9s and low 10s as well as a lot of street driving and couldn't tear it up.

Id personally like to find a shop that doesn't require my core in exchange. ... Buying a built trans and storing it for a bit till I'm ready to swap would be a nice convenience.

mines cost me about $2400 bucks i believe for a stage 2 4L60E. Circle D, RPM, and FLT will be able to hook you up with a strong 60E to take the abuse.

You won't have to upgrade the 2.73s if the rearend is good right now. That is more of a personal preference kind of thing. You won't break the 2.73s. They are extremely tough. The posi unit or driveshaft would break first. You would see a decent gain going to 3.42 gears though.

If you are within driving distance to Houston, then Circle D Transmissions can do the 4L60E build and install for you. You cannot beat their quality and customer service. We run their transmissions in all of our bracket/race cars G/L

look around and you should be able to find a core for $75 if that's a huge concern

I have around $600 in parts in mine. Well, more if you count having to redo a lot of it due to driveshaft failure...

i read somewhere that if a tranny is stored for a year or so,some of the seals go bad because they have been dry for too long.i dont know.sounds logical.

as for the guy in NTX.if you are in the dfw area, you should give Gil a call at ace transmissions.he is good friends with vince at FLT.anyway Gil ONLY does racing transmissions and he used to do R&D for the 4l60e years ago.yeah sure, ive heard the "been doing this for 30 years" bit.ive actually had my tranny built twice by local yahoos.anyone can build a 4l60e if they follow the instructions.and they will tell you its a "built" tranny.but not everyone can build a transmission like this guy.anyway, give him a call or check this site out

www.aceracingtrans.com look to spend about 2k.

Yea itried circle d, they quoted me around 3,400.00 . That's fir me bringing my car letting them take my tranny doing a rebuilt putting in my ss3600 converter, and putting everything back together.

I've also considered just having the converter put in without rebuilt tranny.. Car won't see the track.. Just a street car..
