Default 2800/3200 Stall and Gear Vendors Overdrive

I have a stock 2001 SS Camaro. I'm building the suspension right now and plan is to build up the trans to handle some roadcourse workload at the track. Not drag racing BUT road racing. I'm not gonna swap for a 6 speed-I already have a C5 Z06 for these duties

I am planning on getting a gear vendors overdrive unit to split the shifts and be able to have more control on the twisties. Would a 2800/3200 stall converter benefit me in this case? I'm thinking the converter should help me stay in a higher power band but???

Also, do converters build excessive heat? I'm also thinking i'm going to loose out on some fuel mileage? I have 3:42 gears.

Any assistance from the trans fourm experts is Greatly appreciated-thanx in advance!

Converters do build heat, and they do help you stay in the powerband. Dunno how they would effect a car on the road course. You outta hit up the converter companies and pick their brains.
