I tried driving in D3 today some and it felt great! I want to make SURE that I'm not hurting the stock tranny when driving in D3 and OD on the highway. I always make sure I'm at a complete stop when shifting to D3 so as to not manually downshift the trans. Car has 132,000 miles and I don't want to replace the transmission.

Sorry for bringing this back from the dead, but I'm confused! Am I hurting anything and will the trans die sooner as a result?

You're not hurting anything by driving in D3.

Drive streets in D3; after you enter the freeway select D4; when you exit the freeway select D3 as you slow down.

You don't have to stop to select between D3 and D4.

OK. So going from D4 to D3 while moving is not the same as going from D3 to D2 in terms of how hard it is on the trans. This is cool!
