Default HVAC controlls stopped working?

1. i'm posting this here because there is really no forum this problem fits in and it happened when i had the manual > auto swap done.

2. the fan speed and temp guages work fine. but the far right position switch only works two positions. either off or if its on anything besides off, it just blows at your feet and on the windshield.

I looked in the dash and did a search and all i could find was that the switch is somehow controlled by vacuum? i'm at a loss though.

there is a little vacuum hose that hooks to the back of the intake. I *think* that controlls the HVAC positioning. This hose routes towards the passenger side of the firewall.

The small plastic line goes from the back of the intake to a check valve right by the PCM, then one hose goes through the firewall to the HVAC control, the other goes to the front of the car to the vacuum resevor by the horns in the right front of the car. Something is disconnected/broken somewhere along there
