Talking swapping to a 4l80e

I did a search and couldn't find anything, I'm going to swap out my 4l60 to a 4l80 and i want to find some pics of where you have to pound out the trans tunnel.

any other info or advice on doing the swap would be cool

Take a look at the top of the main page of this section in the stickies. There is a bunch of info in there that will help you. Vince

Its the brace that runs across the transmission tunnel. It runs into the connector for the transmission. If you run a late style (97 up) 80e, you may need to trim the other side for the rear cooler line.

bringing back an older thread but what part of the trans needs to be grinded off? i ground off what i thought where the "ears"(2 tabs on each side toward the front of the trans) but it looks like part of the trans that the dust cover bolts to needs to be ground off as well. it's hard to explain, but it's a part of the trans on each side that has the bolt holes for the first bolt on each side for the dust cover on it.

doubtful, the dust cover bolts on with 4 on the bottom of the bellhousing, right by the converter. The ears that need to be cutoff usually only need to be cutoff because of headers.

I know these pictures suck, but all i have on me is my phone. but is that piece circled in yellow what needs to be ground off? it's the piece of metal that sticks out on both sides and has a bolt hole in it for something, i'm assuming the dust cover.

I just finished my 4l80e swap as well, I have 1 7/8" American Racing headers and had to cut off the passenger side top dust cover hole. I'll upload a picture shortly... This is an earlier model trans.

Couldnt find a picture after making the cut but I added a line showing you about how much I needed to clear the headers. Ill be under the car within a week and can get a finished pic if you'd like.

Go ahead and cut like Powershift_98. That's fine.
