convert 4l60e to 4l65e
FLP sells a built 4L65E that they refer as their LEVEL 5 tranny.

4L65E level 5 transmission - Includes GM 5 pinion planet assemblies front and rear, 4L65E reaction shaft w/bearing, FLP extreme duty sun shell w/bearing, and cryogenic treated input & output and reaction shafts. Also includes GM deep pan with drain plug.FLP extreme duty input housing with steel sleeve pressed around input shaft splines with machined overun piston to increase strength.

It was a relatively painless swap for me. The only major(if you could call it that) mod was to swap out the shift selector shaft, as the one included with the 4L65E will hit the trans tunnel. Other than that, it is pretty much a direct swap. We had it out and apart a couple months after the swap due to the input splines stripping on my TCI SSF3800. There was no damage to the tranny, but the differences between it and a 4L60E were readily apparent with all the parts spread out on the bench. I am hoping this tranny will last me a while.

i converted to a brand new GM 4L65E.
Shift selector shaft must be changed as stated and tailhousing had to be swapped with a 4L60E tailhousing so as the torque arm could bolt up. a total of 15 minutes worth of modification for F-body use. If this is for your truck, i dont believe theres any modification at all. you just need to order the truck version of the trans and not the GMPP/Holden car version.

We build 4L60E's to the 4L65E in our race build units. They run at $1950 for your core rebuild. This unit will handle 700bhp no problem. Our tranny builder has one of these in a 9.4 second Vette.
