Default 95 4l60e into 96 f-body

Hello need some help I have a rebuilt 1995 4l60e from a z28 that I may put into my 1996 ss. I heard it can be done. Ive done some searching and found different results. I believe a thread on impalass said a 95 will fit as long as the vss and tailshaft housing is switched. Then I saw something that they dont interchange cause the solenoids or something were different? Not sure what to believe

Im trying to find similar info.

I swapped an 01 4.3 from my wifes silverado (that got a 6.0 4l80e) into my aunts 95 blazer.

I used a 96 blazer harness and pcm. I now have a number of transmission codes as the trans is still the 95 trans.

So I found this on ls1lt1.com forum posted by a transmission shop performabuilt transmissions...

http://www.ls1lt1.com/forum/automati...it-1995-a.html

93=4l60/700r4 CARS 93-94 UNIQUE 4L60E TRUCKS ONLY

94 1 year only cars and trucks 93 is the same in trucks

This unit can be modified to work in the 95 up F and B body

----------------------------------------------------------------------

95 4l60e UNIQUE but can be modified to work in the 96-97 by changing the PWM-3-2 solenoids and electrical harness to the later style. There is a slight diference in 3-2 strategy in the VB but have noticed no ill effects other than a slightly more agressive 2-3 downshift the few times i have seen it done.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

96-97 the same.

98 UP LSX style will not retro

BTW When I did this i cut the vss plug from her old 95 harness and solidered it to the 96 harness. The 96 harness was from a 2wd with a different connect. The blazer is a 4wd so the wires also needed to be about a foot longer. The colors were the same and it seems to work fine. I would think you could do something similar on yours with the vss.

I had been told many of times when I was looking for a tranny for my 95 TA that particular yr was not interchangeable! For whatever in depth reasons, i forget now.
I had went through 2 others, 1 from a 96 camaro & another from a 97 TA both wouldnt work. Once I was told that info, I got one from a 95 TA & it was fine. So im curious as to a 95 into something other? Without issues?
