It only requires you to setup the tune for no upshift commands when in manual low.
This isn't an issue that we've seen on the car OS's but it can be on the trucks.
Can you be more specific on the truck OS's?

...Bit late since I p/u my complete 6.0 tomorrow.
I thought it would be easier to tune the truck ecm than add the 80E to a 0411 car pcm.

The truck OS allows the PCM to command an upshift even when the trans is in manual low. The car PCM doesn't.
I can't state what all years this applies to or what cr may be different.

In EFILive you can "fix" the truck tune, but my understanding is you cannot with HP Tuners. We use both programs at the shop but I'm not the tuning guru.

You can also run a 4L80E using a 4L60E tune. This discovery has allowed 4L80E swaps in '98 F-bodies without a standalone controller and there are some advantages to using this method as far as TCC function is concerned on all the car applications.

Using my transbrake design, you have to kill the PCM's ability to upshift the trans when it's in manual low. Not an issue on the car PCM's but it's an issue on the truck PCM's we've seen.
You CAN just be sure you shift out of manual low as soon as you launch but for safety reasons it is better if it's tuned properly.

Great talking to you Jake, the other night, you answered alot of my questions that I had.. I have another question, do you have to have a manual valve body to have a t-brake or can you just have run a t-brake on the 4l80e and just engage it when you are going to use it??? Thanks

My transbrake works with either a full manual or automatic function.

If your 4L80 is going to be controlled by either a factory PCM or standalone controller, you simply put the trans in manual low, press the brake button, stall it up, release the button and GO!

After that you can manaully shioft for the pass or put the shifter in 3rd and let it auto shift.

I like the idea of being able to put the trans in 3rd and let it auto shift. I'm trying to figure out in my head how I could launch the car in manual low and moving the shifter into 3rd after the launch without knocking it into overdrive or neutral. I have the stock trans am shifter. Any suggestions?
