Question 6 Speed AUTO guys come in please

OK,i dont have a f-body but i do have a 2008 silverado reg cab,,got a 6.0 ly6 with the factory l92 heads,full bolt ons,231/235 cam,4.56 gears..

i just bought a 6L90e out of a 2500hd...i want to throw in a stall converter in it before i bolt it up....i currently had a 3200 in my 60e but blew that trans twice.
heres my question...
What converter are u guys running in your 6speed auto and how do u like it?
i personally was aiming at a 4-4200 from circle D....what do yall think?

I think your tuning is the bigger question...the 6l90e is bigger than the standard 6l80e so know that as well...

What are you going to do to control the transmission? Why are you going to the 6L90e? The 4L60e can be built to handle your truck without a problem.

Nelson Performance is going to take care of the tuning and wiring for me...i dont wanna risk blowing another 60e...i thought it would be a good upgrade as a stock unit plus 2 extra gears with my 4.56s should help me on the highway haha.just wanted to know what stall the 6spd guys are running

Well you might as well call it a 5 speed, becaues with a 4.03 first gear in the 6L90e trans and the 4.56 gears first gear is gonna be pretty non-existant.

Also overdrive isn't any better than the 4L60e so it won't make the 4.56s any more livable on the highway.

Its just a little longer that is all, because of the thicker gears. Also has the larger output shaft.

I wouldn't worry about 1st gear with the 4.56, that is depending on what your rear tire dia is.

What RPM, speed and gear do expect to be in when when your cross the finish line, is what I'd be worring about?

I have a feeling your effective rear end gear ratio will be 3.87 with a 4.56 rear end in 1/4 mile.

Don't think effective rear gear ratio will be 5.24 instead.

I can't remember for sure but I think GM recommends not exceeding 6500 RPM with 6L's, could be couple of hundred lower even.

Should make for an interesting 1/8 mile short track drag truck.

I think you should really think about it. With the 60e you are running about 13.9 to 1 first gear with the 6sp you will be around 18.5 to 1. you are going to shift before you get 10 feet. I'm running 2200 with a basically stock LY6. With 29" tires and 3.00 rear. It's no race car but I shift before I get across 4 Lane intersection. 1st is 4.03 to 2nd is 2.36 a big step. Now what about the TCI 6speed from a 4L80e?
