finally got my 03 vette back together. last month installed tsp 231 237 pps2 heads (lq9) lg longs offrds varaam and drove the car 200 miles and the tranny went. well like i said got the tranny built with extra plates bigger band and transgo and drove it today about 70 miles and on my way home i noticed that car was very slow off the line, i come to find out that it not in first gear! i totally start flippin out as the car earlier that day was fine. well anyway i had codes and cleared them now everytyhiong seems fine. please educate on this, is it common code thing. the converter that is in now was a 3000 tci that was restalled to 3800. car has mail tune but not sure if any edit was done on tranny. car will be at cartek tommorrow for tune.
please help as i sucks to wait so long to get it together and than have this bullsh*t!!

GREAT REPLY, THANKS FOR YOUR HELP. BUT MY QUESTION IS THIS A COMMON TRANS CODE ERROR WHEN CAR ISNT TUNEDS PROPERLY ?
When the trans overheats or something goes wrong the trans will go into 'limp' mode and stay locked in 2nd gear, could have been what happened. Without knowing what the codes were who knows, might want to have the fluid leve re-checked - i know its a pain on a C5 but a lot of transmissions die from being over/under filled..
A faulty VSS or VSS connection is a common cause of 2nd gear start which will be accompanied by no OD operation as well, if memory serves. It should set a VSS DTC.
John Kilgore, are you the same John Kilgore who builds the hopped up super TH400s whom I talked to last spring/summer about doing a build for my NA 8 second effort (still haven't gotten that car out of the shop but we're getting close)? I haven't bought a tranny for it yet in case you're wondering if I went somewhere else.
