I just installed a TCI deep pan on my 98 Trans Am and wondering what fluid to put in it. I know it calls for Dexron III but some say they are using the newest Dexron i believe it is VI??? thanks

 

dex 3 is fine, seems like they are going to a one size fits all fluid though
i ran NAPA brand dex 3 in my 400 and 4l80e and they seemed fine
i used the NAPA brand because it was hard to find a name brand fluid, seems all the parts stores are going to "house" brand stuff, re bottled somebody else's

When they moved on to the newest fluid. The past ver. are no longer regulated. Very common thread topic for M6 transmissions.

 

you could go with synthetic.

 

When i recently talked to Andy at FLT, he said any non-synthetic Dex III would work just fine.

 

I have a jug of AMSOIL right here that i'm dying to put in... anyone have feed back on that?
