Broke the input shaft on my th400 last night on the trans brake. The snub of the shaft is stuck down inside the converter anyone had this happen? What did you do to get it out?
If you cannot safely get it out take it to a shop that builds converters. BUT you should be able to drill/tap and then thread in a grade 8 bolt and have better leverage to remove.
If you broke the shaft the converter must be rebuilt as metal parts from the brake are loose inside and the turbine is warped from the sudden shock loads
it's out. new input shaft in the tranny. Also the builder stuck an input shaft in the converter everything felt fine. It's back in the car and drives normal..no issues
