How Much Transmission Fluid Needed? Hey guys, either this afternoon or tomorrow afternoon, i am going to take the pan off thr transmission to tap in a sensor for a transmission temp gauge. How much fluid will I need to fill it back up properly? Also, where can i get a new filter? (Autozone?)
And last but not least, what type of transmission Fluid should i use?

The oil and filter change take 5 qts. If you are going to do a total overhaul ever, it will take about 12 qts. So, if you are just going to drop the pan, tap a sensor and change the fluid plan on using about 5 qts. However..For some reason, every time I change mine it seems to take a diffrent amount. Be cautious on just adding 5 qts..Put about 3 1/2 in, let it get hot, and top off! My owners manual says put 5 in after a pan and filter change..Mine was over filled the 2nd time! On the oil question, try and use a high grade synthetic oil. Even know it will blend with the regular trans oil, you will have some what of a synthetic blend..Plan on changing it again after 12k if you use synthetic and add synthetic again to richen the blend!
