I would rather see a guy install a 4L80E behind serious power, there are some exceptions but very few.

Long term reliability and peace of mind

What type of power are you planning on making with this setup? As Jake said an 80 would most likely be your best option.

Your most reliable option would be an 80E. I have built 60's with that power level or more but in my experience once a year they will need to be refreshed depending on your driving habits. If you do not drive it hard then you will probably get some more time out of it. For what its going to cost to build a 60an 80E would be better money spent. HTH Vince

1.80 Gear Powerglide

Add a gearvendors overdrive if you feel you need it for highway cruising. I would guess a 3.50 or taller gear with a 28" tire depending on your shiftpoint. Even without OD, you could cruise 70 mph around 3000 rpm.

No electronics to worry about, lightweight, simple. One shift. Torque converter needs to be spot on, not kind of close.

Pics of your tow rig?? Sounds killer!

Thanks man. There is a guy in Houston that has a similar setup. About how much for a powerglide built like this?

Here it is without "level" in the front. Last year when I first got the tires.

Actually, I found this. Also on their transmission page they have some TH350's. Hmm.
