4L60E removal question

Default 4L60E removal question

So i have look around in the search engine , Found some answers tryed them all. My 4L60E wont come out, Its in my 98ss all the bolts are out there is a 1/4 gap right now between the motor and trans , I tried the ratchet strap thing lifted it up down, wiggled it, shook it, cussed at it , ,any other ideas

You're sure all 8 bolts are out, right? Also made sure that there's nothing still connecting the trans to the car? Torque converter bolts are out?

Yes sir all 8 bolts are out How do i get to the torque converter bolts i cant see them

I guess it would be the little round access hole to take the bolts off thanks i will take them off now

ok got teh torque converter bolt off but it looks like it is hanging up on the very top of the tranny is there a 9th bolt in the 12oclock position

no there shouldnt be 9 bolts. There is however a top bolt in what would be the 12oclock poisiton. Make sure there isnt one there and if there isnt just take a pry bar and the trans should just put off the block. I have pulled my trans out 3 different times now if you have any more questions just shoot me a pm.

There's a bolt up there. Just got done removing mine. There's not one in the 2 o'clock postion

gonack behind the tailshaft anduse a **** load of extensions and a swovel. if you have a jack under the trans i would lower it down where the jack is just supporting it. you should have a clear view of the bolt now.

from the back with 1 or 2 long extension & swivel taped tight..........

do you have the crossmember off?.......

Yes I do have the cross member of I pretty much have everything off. I had to step away from the car before I blow it up . Thanks for the info I am gonna get on the last bolt tomorrow

if the crossmember is off the tranny,it should be leaning down at the tail shaft...you should beable to see the bolt.

Isnt there like a million threads going on for converter installs? lol Theres might be a couple threads around with some good pics if you try a search. I bet you dont even need to use the search option
