what shift kit to go with???
what shift kit to go with??? I'm building a 1970 Trans Am with a LS1 & a 4l60e tranny out of a 2004 GTO with 19000 miles. The engine will be about 525 HP with all the mods (NA, no turbo or NOS). It will have a 3.43 posi in the rear & a 3200 stall Precision
Industries Vigilante torque converter. My question is which shift/rebuild kit should I get for it? I may take it to the strip 1 time a year & auto cross it about the same. It will mostly be a nice show car I can drive on the Power Tour & compete in some events in.
Should I just get a basic TransGo HD2 shift kit for about $80? What about some of these more expensive kits from Pro-Built Automatics like the 4L60E Street/Strip Perf Upgrade or the 4L60E Street/Strip Perf Upgrade w/vacuum modulator? What does the vacuum modulator even do? I also looked at a few kits from monster trans but they had a lot more parts & were more $.

with that power output you might look into having one of our sponsors (FLT for one but there are several) build either a 4L60 or 4L80. I dont see a stock trans lasting too long or being reliable with that power.

The HD-2 kit seems to be the go to kit for the 4l60e. My trans builder recommended it for my build. With 525hp I would highly recommend a "built" transmission and not just a shift kit. A shift kit only will not make your transmission last under those power levels.
