Default Any issues with APF/ Xtreme Transmission?

About to pull the trigger on the LVL 3 4l65 and billet converter, its the cheapest I've seen with the 5 pionion carriers and the 2 year warrenty is tough to ignore.. but as they say, if its too good to be true... anyone have some miles on one of them? anyone had any issues? Thanks for the feedback!

Where do you see a two year waranty? http://www.xtremetransmissions.com/Warranty.php

I'd pay $100 more for an FLT level 4.

Keep in mind other factors like having to swap your bell and tail over, shipping, core return, builder reputation. Not all trans deals are created equal. Research all aspects of the sale before you purchase.

The best way to not be the next person taken by a less than quality transmission builder is to stick with builders who are here to support you every day and have the reputation and performance to back up their product. Your best weapon is research.

Looks like they are a sponsor. Not listed in the vendors list anywhere.

The true cost for the FLT is more like $100 + $200-400 since that's what a stock trans goes for usually that you'd be giving up as a core charge...

I'm interested as well in this company as well since they are located in ca...

Well for what you are doing I would recommend that type of build you have listed. What is the weight of this car? Do you have any suspension mods? I honestly have not been inside of one of their units to give an honest opinion on the quality of their work. The build list looks pretty good to me and there are a few other things I add on my own builds. The one thing that stands out on their list is it seems that they itemize things that are already in the HD-2 kit to make it look like they are doing more to their units. Just an observation take it for what its worth. HTH Vince

I have cal tracks/multi leaf setup in the rear, (275/45/17's) it hooks as hard as it can on a street tire. (so not that much..) the car is around 3400 lbs

thanks for the feedback on the build list... 2500 for the trans and converter shipped is pretty tough to beat.. $$ wise anyway.

I've seen this so many times when it comes to transmissions and torque converters, the difference in price has to come from somewhere.

I would rather have a sponsor unit, so you have something to fall back on for support. A warranty is only as good as the paper it's written on, look @ Monster transmission and their 3 year warranty, try calling for support......, Would you want to have surgery performed by the cheapest Doctor?

what level FLT/Performabuilt/RPM would you recommend? I also will be getting a 2600 stall converter (street car, sees the strip 2 x a year) any issues with that? Thanks for the input!

I would be curious to know who they use for converters. I know that Yank and Circle D make some nice stuff. They have some more affordable converters that I think are around $400. These are not billet front cover units but still preform pretty well.

I don't see an issue with the stall being in that range. Being that you will have some decent low end torque with the TVS you really will not require a crazy high stall for your intended use. In the order that you have listed above for trans sponsors if it were my vehicle I would be looking at a L5/L3/L5 but that's just me. You could go with one of their lesser builds but IMO I like a sleeved input drum and feel the 5 pinion planets are a good upgrade. PB does not offer a sleeved input drum in their L2 and both RPM and FLT do offer this in their L4 builds. So if your were to go that route keep this info in mind. If you have any other questions just ask. HTH Vince

I have one (4L60E)but my car is a DD that doesnt see the track anymore. Ive had it since Jan 09and it was just sent back to them for some problems I had. (Very hard 1-2 shifts, shutter when shifting to 3rd) Only thing I paid for was shipping to them. Even though the warranty period ended last year, they said they would take care of any problems I have with the unit and pay to ship it back. Ill let you know more when I get it back together this week or next. But so far no complaints.
