Default Aftermarket auto shifter for 00 Bird

Any of you guys ever do this? The car has a built 4l60e in it and I wanna upgrade the shifter and can't convince myself which shifter to use. I wanted to see if anyone else has done this with the factory console.

Search. Some threads in the Appearance forum.

It's been done, but mostly for racing applications.
There are a couple threads with photos.

1) There aren't many shifters that fit the location that well, so you will most likely have to make some custom mount plate.
B) Seems that there are some people who used the ratchet style shifters because they fit the console opening better than the full shift pattern units would.
Third) There are electronics involved with the stock shifter that you'll either have to over-ride or find or methods of hooking them up. Neutral safety switch, brake pedal control, (Which can simply be disconnected.), etc., ...
4th) Some people do the !length mod & shorten the OE shift lever 1".
E) Some people simply swap the **** for something different.

Again, the Appearance forum has some threads also.

Edit:
Oh yea, ..., And there are not many shifters that cater to the 4-speed auto, a few, but not many, ...

I did try a search but couldn't come up with anything, so instead of walking around walmart for hours looking aimlessly I thought I'd ask a question...

PontiacFan, Thank you.
