4l60E replacement LS1 fbody
4l60E replacement LS1 fbody I just got a killer deal for an 02 Camaro w/ an LS1 and 4l60E that slips badly in first gear, all other gears are fine except sometimes it will fight going into overdrive. The last 2 Fbody's ive had both had T56's in them. My last one came with a t56, and I swapped one into my 87' bird. The thought has come across to swap a T56 into this one also, but i kind of want to stick with the auto for now simply because it would be much cheaper for me at the moment and it would be back on the road in no time.
I have a few questions now that you know the background. First of all, would a t56 be worth the extra money and effort compared to the 4l60e? Next, which vehicles can I get a 4l60e out of that would be an easy swap? Ive done a search, but Im looking for a straight forward answer. Are there any other auto transmissions that can be swapped that would be more beneficial such as maybe a 6 speed auto or something of the sort?
If I decide to keep the 4l60e, should I invest in the tools and build it myself, get one from a wrecked vehicle, or have one built for me? Ive built 4t65E's back when I attended wyotech, so Im pretty knowledgeable, but I would definetly need a guide to do so. Lastly, say I swap the transmission back into the car, would I just need to add transmission fluid then drive to a shop and have them flush the trans?
