This is a good precautionary measure. THe epc screen is snapped into the separator plate. The body of it sits in the transmission case, I believe. You'll see when you have the separator plate out. If you are doing the transgo kit, the spring they provide doesn't really stay up in the screen- I called and they said just put it back together & it will hold in there loose (between case and valve body).
