Hey guys, I'm writing today about my son's '99 Tahoe (first car). It's got the dreaded 3rd and 4th gear slip. It's a 4x4, but bone stock and we don't really need a bulletproof rebuild, just a good stock rebuild. We are going to be doing the rebuild ourselves, but I wanted to ask for any advice the experts might have with respect to kits to get, rebuilt torque converters to use, any mods to implement just to correct factory flaws, must have tools, etc. We are not in a rush and will be taking our time, so would greatly appreciate any advice you might have.

I would recommend a sonnax HD valve. It helps with the 3-4 gear application.
