Default 4L60E Stall Question

Here is the deal, my car is a 2002 SS SOM A4 and I am looking at getting a stall for it. Is a 3600 vigilante too much for it? I am wanting that TC along with the transgo hd-2 shift kit. Yes the car is stock, but fixing to order some 1 7/8 long tubes with ory and not sure on the rest of the exhaust yet, but also fixing to order the MTI clear air lid and SLP bellow, p+p throttble body is on its way already. So what do you guys recommend me going with?

The transmission shop here told me that doing a stall on a stock car is pointless and will slow it way down

why 4.10s' instead of the more popular 3.73s' for an A4 ?

That's the converter I run on my bolt on car with 3.23 gears and love it. I'd say go for it if you plan on doing bolt ons in the near future

I don't know what the better gear would be, 4.10 no good behind an auto?

I have the Yank SS3600 on my SS A4, backed with the 3.23's. I absolutely love that converter.

I ran same for 5 years then added 3.73 for 4 years, added SS4000 for 1 year
added 9" /4.11 /27 1/2" tire
(4.11 MAY run out in the 1/4, have not tried it as on now)

I drove around for years with a Vig 3600, 4.10's, and a 28" Hoosier Quicktime. As far as running out of gear I think it will depend on the tire you run and future mods. The stall will not slow the car down but going to that idiot of a transmission shop will.

Sounds like 3.73's would be the better choice then! So what brand stall do you all recommend? How is like Circle D vs. Yank vs. Vigilante or any other brands

I like all of those that you have mentioned but I prefer FTI. Give Greg a call and he will build you a converter for your needs. I went by his shop and watched my converter get built which means he doesn't build off the shelf converters. However, any of those companies will do you right.

How was that SS4000? I'm leaving in the 3.23's since, I've boosted the car.

Don't go back to that shop.

I highly recommend 4000 over 3600 unless you plan on spraying.

If you drive on the street more than 2-3 hours a week I advise against 410s. Having 323s, I wouldnt waste the money on a gear swap, there will be minimal to no performance gains and you won't hardly notice they are there... All along weakening your rear and hurting your mpg.

I recommend PTC for the converter.
