Default RPM 4l65 limits

Hey guys I had a lot of transmission trouble in the past couple years (7 trannies to be exact) so I finally bought a new RPM 4l65 level 6 and was wondering if anyone knew the hp limits on this tranny it also has a 3600 vigi triple disk in it if that matters Thanks in advance jeff

How much hp are you making? Did RPM recommend that trans for your car?

We are hoping for 900+ rwhp and we did tell them what we are building but I just see alot of people saying that the 4l60's wont hold up but Ive never used a RPM. Ive heard nothing but good things about RPM. thanks jeff

It seems that RPM has the fastest 60e car's around that are still surviving and able to be drove home and done again. Then again they are definately up there in price, but it is well worth it. I just got a quote on a 80e from them. Good people to work with. I would seriously look into a 4L80E as it will give you the peace of mind you seek.

4l80e would of been the best choice.
I'm running one in a 02 camaro and love the response and no worries of it braking.
Seen this trans in a corvette with 900hp and no problems, daily driver.

900hp is going to be a stretch. We have quite a few of our Level 7 transmissions behind this much power in 3300-3500lbs Corvettes and we haven't really seen a limit to what they can take. But the Level 6 is rated to 700hp so with 900hp you are well beyond its intended HP range. Hopefully it will handle that kindof power for you for a while, but it will be doing work for sure.

Well I hope it holds but if it dosen't Ill just send it back to you and get you to upgrade it to the level 7. The reason I went with the level 6 was because of Don Dixons GTO ( Heintz Racing ) it has the same trans and about the same power and its held for 2 years now so I guess we'll see Thanks for the reply. jeff

Gotcha. Don's car runs great. Hopefully yours holds up to the abuse as well. Shoot me a PM once you hit the track with it and let me know how it runs.
