Default Most miles on 4L60E

Ok so how may miles have people seen on an all stock 4L60E? Mine has 122k on it right now with an all stock LS1. Looking to replace the U-joints in a few months, but what about the trans? I know 4L60Es are notorious for just randomly going out one day. I've changed the fluid and filter in it when I first bought it at 115k and it was VERY clean. So what do you think, do I need to have finish line or performabuilt on call for a built one pretty soon?

2001 Z28 167,000 still on original tranny. Ported t/b and homemade cold air only mods and it ran 13.20 @105 bout 2 months ago. Shifts firm but sometimes little lazy on the 2-3 shift.

yea that's what I'm hoping for, atleast 160k...mine's a little lazy on 2-3 also. I'm putting a cooler on my '02 Sierras 4L60E(85k on it) in the next few weeks just because it's fairly easy because of the room.

I had around 180k miles on my 94 TA when I sold it, the trans was still working fine, it had basic bolt ons.

255K on my original stock trans (need to update my sig). I still can't believe how great it shifts after all those miles- I'm talking crisp, clean shifts. No slippage at all. Of course I bought the car from an older lady who was a sales manager and drove all over so most miles are highway.

Mine has 143,000 miles. As far as I know, its the original transmission. I also installed a big transmission cooler to hopefully make it last longer. The transmission on my parents Blazer also has about the same mileage as mine and its the original.

The truck I usually borrow when I need to haul engines and such had a VERY HARD 240K on it before the transmission finally bit turf.

When I say driven hard, I'm talking half ton step side truck pulling an 18 foot flatbed trailer with a car on it and the bed loaded with engines and transmissions gunning it from lights and racing people - all the time. Same truck was a quart and a half low on trans fluid and three quarts low on oil when I borrowed it last. Of course I topped them off before I went anywhere.

Wow. everyone's trans is lasting longer then all my friends that have a4 camaros. all of them had to rebuild before 100k. Slipping like a *****. one of them had to rebuild with only 70k. But then again all of them do outings at the track at least one a month.

Hard to compare a sports car trans problems with that of a work truck

Notice how the two trucks have roughly double the lifetime of hotrods?

My rcsb 00 dd has 320k on stock 60e. Since new it has pulled boats, cars, trailers and countless motors and parts in the bed. Was purchased for shop truck. I dd it everyday almost. Most reliable vehicle I've ever owned. Trans shifts perfect and firm in all gears, it even pulls hard in passing gear. Of course proper maintenance has always been performed.

Mine hit 118k and lost 2nd gear, then blew a few hundred miles later.

I beat on it pretty bad though, lots of highway stuff.

My trans has been going since 97 with 202,000 miles and I'm about to make a 1,000 mile trip to Virginia. Thing just scoots along in the V6.
