Lost 2nd gear only--possible cause?

Lost 2nd gear only--possible cause? My trans seems to have lost 2nd gear.
It will shift from 1st,slip,then third and then lock up in OD.The trans is a vac modulated older Speed Inc that I just installed,it was gone thru by the builder before I installed it and he said it checked out fine.
I only have about 40 miles on the trans and when first installed it did have all the gears.I took it out for a blast and rolled the gas on thru 2nd gear to test for WOT shifts,it hit the rev limiter at 7000 and would not shift to third on its own.From this point on I had no 2nd gear but 1st is fine,3rd is fine[you can feel it go to 3rd and lock in 3rd] and it locks up fine in OD.
Anyone had this happen or have a clue what it could be? TIA

I had it happen in mine, I dont know if its the same in yours or not. I installed a shift kit and when I was testing it out, about the third time I really got in to it it banged the revlimiter in first and slamed into third. I replaced the 1-2 silinod, didnt help. I took it to a trans shop they went through everything i did and then when he was putting it back togethere he noticed the wiring harnes was twisted up. He untwisted it and it worked fine. I really kicked myself for that $200 mistake.
