What is the advantage What is the advantage or disadvantage of putting in a 4l60e in my 81trans am conversion instead of leaving the t350 . Seems leaving the stock trans would eliminate a new drive shaft, computer box for speedo, and cross member mod.

Many advantages, although because of cost you don't see many people installing a 4l60e over a 700r4.
3.08 fist gear ratio.
30% overdrive for lower rpm@highway speeds
the ability to control shift firmness/shift rpm electronically for exact shift timing is also a nice feature.
Your driveshaft can be shortened/rather than replaced.
They make a tailhousing kit with a reluctor ring and a conventional speedometer gears.
The also sell a shifter conversion kit.
Expensive project, but with the right parts the performance & driveability are outstanding.
