Default Longshot converter question. . .

I'm sure there might be some distinguishing characteristics of differing converter manufactures so I'll ask.....

Anyone recognize this style/manufacturer?

It had little bits of just off baby-blue paint underneath some of the black I'm removing. I thought the 8 welds near the neck might be unique...

It uses 3 (tripod style) bolts to attach to the flex plate (I've seen some with 6 so I figure it might be relevant).

Thanks,

Duff

The welds are factory on the Ford 10" converter used in some the HP applications.
they did this instead of brazing (as it cost less) it helped support the blades but not as well as the brazing process did
Looks like an old B&M unit but many company's used this core over the years.

Another question... I've seen both 'ways' to measure the torque converter as being

1: From center of bolt hole to center of torque converter,

2: From center of bolt hole to center of other bolt hole (assuming 3-bolt convertor).

There are 2 measurements on a converter.

1- Diameter, this is an internal measurement on the turbine. Can not do from outside. But we can tell what converter it is and know the measurement.

2- Bolt circle, this is the diameter of the circle that the converter bolt holes are in. The one you have has 3 lugs so hard to measure. But you can measure from the center of the hole to center of the pilot and multiply by 2.

The 3 GM options are:
10.750 - 350/LT
11.080 - LS
11.5 4L80/400 3 or 6 lug
