Default New build Trans Help

Building a 01 TA this winter and getting parts for build now.

Car will be a lq9 based engine with a 9" . Caged etc.... Going to plan a low 10 sec street car. This car will be boosted. Wilth this in mind I am looking into a transmission for the car.

I know the th400 is the main choice to racers but I am looking at a street car that can handle the boost of a 408. With that in mind, will the 4l80e work (size) and will it hold up to the HP I am planning. I would assume that it will have around 650/750 hp to project into the 10's. I am a newb here so any advice on anything on this build will help. Trans is the question though for now. Also if there are some parts for sale Local to MI......

If it were my car I would probably look at installing a 4l80e if you are looking for an overdrive unit. A well built 4l60E unit will work but IMHO you will have to plan on freshening it up every couple seasons. The 80E is the stronger of the two for sure. HTH Vince

Are you looking at building this yourself? Or buying a transmission outright?
