You shouldn't need a manual lockup switch, it just needs to be wired through the brake switch. Google, sallee 4l60 and scroll to the bottom of the instructions, it shows how to wire the switch.

There is a kit that is offered by many different companies that incorporates a pressure switch that will engage lock up when the transmission shifts into 4th gear. It is not necessary to wire in any manual switch or a brake switch even. The reason is when the transmission downshifts the TCC solenoid will lose it's signal.

That is how it's done buddy! Just do a google search on 700r4 lockup conversion harness or something similar and you'll find exactly what you need. If you have any questions feel free to get back to me.

Yep, that's exactly the sort of kit I had in mind. It should work just fine. Not sure the manual switch is necessary, I would probably not install it myself.

The only reason any vehicle is equipped with lock up in 2nd or 3rd is for mileage and emissions purposes. It serves zero performance enhancement purposes. The only time lock up is favorable in 3rd gear is if you are at WOT and are trying to squeeze every last H/P out of the combination. And that should never happen unless the converter internals are built for that purpose.

Not trying to argue here, but having built and installed 700r4's for over 20 years I might have a bit of a strong opinion. There are many ways to accomplish lock up in a 700... i prefer the hands off while driving, non manual switch approach myself.

You can beat the snot out of it and it will be fine.

Just like Heads-Up said... it will only lock up in 4th gear and will release when it is not in 4th gear. It cannot apply in any other gear. Now, the only downfall to it is there is no delay feature... meaning it will stroke the solenoid and engage the TCC as soon as it shifts to 4th.

Hope that helps.
