Besides the tranny u will need a new shifter / new converter / new driveshaft / new tranny cross bar or modify yours / New TQ arm or modify your mount to work / if u want the speedo to work you have to do the convertion / new dipstick or modify yours to work / and if you are going w/ a trans brake I would recommend a scatter shield...As the cost I am into my set up for about $32-$3300 from TQ arm to shifter...
Here is a pic of my set up...

That's a pretty good depiction as to what it takes. If you have a M6, the tranny cross member is identical, you just need a spacer. Aftermarket torque arm is pretty much a must without fabricating your own. Cooler and lines, etc.

Also,, do a search in here for "TH400" and you'll get a 100 results at least. We see at least one request a week like this one. So there is lots of info in here. Anyway, I wrote up some info on my conversion. You can get to it here http://www.derty.org/install/th400.jsp. I have to finish a few things up, but otherwise it's pretty close to what you need.

If you have any more specific questions and we can get you the answers!

This is what all I bought, and the work that had to be done:

Madman & Co. Racing --
$2580 (shipped to Omaha, Nebraska truck terminal)
TH400 Kit included:
Transking TH400-Reverse Manual Valvebody/Transbrake
Transking Stall (you choose what size) with nitrous anti-balloning plate
M6 Tranny Mount (didn't need it because I was running an M6)
Aluminium Nitrous Prepped Driveshaft
Billet Input Shaft
B&M 28K GVW Tranny cooler/ braided hoses/ Aeroquip fittings
Madman locking dipstick/w tube

In addition I also purchased:
$200-TCI Flexplate (or ask Brian about his custom flexplate $$$)
$290-Cheetah SCS gated shifter w/transbrake button
$20-TH400 tranny mount (local parts store)
$25 ARP Flexplate/flywheel bolts (jegs.com)
$12 on washers (tranny mount shims)
$50 Autometer Transmission Temp Gauge
$10 wiring, electrical connectors etc.
$40 1 case of B&M Trick Shift (non synthetic)
$40 ARP Converter bolts

I also upgraded too:
$400 Spohn Torque Arm w/DS safety loop (stock torque arm must be changed)

The install is pretty straightforward. I highly recommend that you use a lift, as I cannot imagine how bad it would be to do this while laying on your back!!

Unknowns?--
A4 to TH400 may require some sort of tuning??
Speedometer is optional, and will require more parts and more $$$$
Plan on everything taking twice as long to complete. (shifter should of taken a couple of hours.....6 hours later it was in, and working)

I highly recommend you talk to Brian at Madman Racing. He is on the sponsor list.
