Default Opinions on TCI Competition 3800

I have a 2000 SS with PP LS6 style heads and TSP 231/237. I just got this convertor, but haven't installed it yet. I was wondering how those with this convertor liked it. I got this convertor rather than a bigger one because I spray a 100-150 shot sometimes.

The competition series are race convertors They have high-load sprags, reinforced fins, needle bearings, hardened steel pump hubs, ballooning plates, and a steel mounting ring.

I recently just got this same converter. I have not installed it yet. I thought it may be too big for my mods, since all i have is lid, exhaust, stuff like that. Though I've been told that a 3800 will really make the car completely different. I'll guess ill see once its installed.

GOT THE SAME SETUP IN MY 03 VETTE CONVERTIBLE. THE CONVERTER THAT WAS IN IT WAS TCI3000 THEN I INSTALLED THE H/C THEN TRANNY BLEW UP.
KEVIN @TCI IS RESTALLING TO 3800 AS THAT CAM IS WAY TO BIG FOR A 3000 STALL.
FROM WHAT I HAVE HEARD GUYS REALLY LIKE THAT CONVERTER
DUDE MAKE SURE THAT YOU GET A TRANSGO OR TCI SHIFT KIT, MY CAR ONLY HAD 300 MILES WITH H/C TOTAL MILES ON CAR ARE ONLY 4500.
I CANT WAIT TO GET IT BACK TOGEGHER AS I JUST PURCHASENEW NITTO 305/35/18 DR. I WANNA FEEL THAT STALL FLASH TO 3800 AND SCREAM THAT MOTOR TO 6750!!!! I NEED IT I NEED IT

Lock for a post , I believe the member name is Bain, he is running a bolt on car with the TCI 3800 and has put down some impressive times and mph with a full weight car.Cant wait to send my converter back to kevin winstead at TCI to get it restalled to a 3800 but the god dam snow and cold weather is not making it easy.

I have a TCI 3800 in my Z with 3.23s. The cam is an XE-R 224/228. It is a very loose converter in terms of driving around town. Light acceleration will put you around 2600-2700 RPMs. As far as shift extensions on the 2-3 shift at 6400 the engine will drop to 4900. It's a bit loose for just driving around town but if you have a big cam it wouldn't be a bad choice at all. It's definitely not as loose as my previous TH400(2.48)/Yank 4500/4.11 setup!

^^ my ssf 3500 is like 2200-2600 accell unlocked, shifting at 6189 puts me back at 5000rpm on shift extension.

odd. Maybe they don't change much

I love the TCI 3800 that I have On a well preped track, great weather, and ET Streets I was cutting 1.51's and one 1.49 60' It wasn't exactly full eight though I had prostars on and pass. and rear seat out(still weighed about 3550-3600lbs. with me in it). You will need more than DR's for the track this thing hits hard! and I wouldn't even try punching it from a stop on the street.
