Removing trans dipstick tube

Removing trans dipstick tube Is there any way to remove the 4L60 dipstick tube on an fbody with the trans still in the car?
I installed my trans last night and while filling it I discovered I forgot to put the rubber grommet on the dipstick tube.
I unbolted the tube, hung the crossmember down, did everything I could think of but there still isn't enough room to get the grommet on.
Just looking for ideas before I go take the trans down again after work tonight.
