Default Worth the differance...

Need some suggestions.

My 01 ws6 has about 178k miles on it, now the motor runs fine and the car has went 8.4's with tires and exhaust and tune.

I have been debating about a stall for awhile but the 4l60e is starting to show its age..I"m pretty sure it slipped on me the other day.

Is it worth buying a stall and just letting this one live out it's life...or go ahead and maybe throw a th350 in there.

Anyone got a link to a good write up or info about the swamp...what all will be changed?

Also the car doesn't go on long trips and just a weekend drive around town play toy.

I would save the money to have your 4L60e gone through. A TH350 seems like a cheaper alternative but having to have a custom tail housing made for the speedo pickup, driveshaft made, buying an aftermarket crossmember, flex plate, converter and retune the car it adds up VERY fast. If you put a new converter in your failing 4L60e when it finally goes out you are going to fill that new converter full of burnt clutch material and trash from the failed transmission. So you will have to send it back to the converter manufacturer to have it cleaned and inspected. I know from experience that your car will slow down considerably going from the 4L60e to the TH350 unsless you put a pretty loose converter in it and quite a bit more gear in the rear end.

Sorry for the book. I just wanted to let you know what you might run into.

Let me know if you ever need anything.

3 speed autos suck *****

Have your trans gone through, build it right and it will be as strong or stronger than a th350.

It's not worth the trouble and ruining a car with a 3 speed unless you get to the level you think you need a th400, and even then a 4l80e is a better alternative unless it's a track only car.
