Stall should be the first "to do" on the list for an automatic car. Then tires.

You could do tires first, but it's more fun this way

Personally, I regret doing mine, it was fun and all at first but it got old fast. You will have to remove it from the car if you ever plan on selling it. Nobody will by a car with a stall in it.

My 4.56s' & SS3600 are 2500rpm @ 60mph,3000rpm @ 72mph.
4 trips to Florida(1100 miles one way) at 21.5 mpg,the 3.23s' were 24.5 mpg.

My ss3600 stall locks up at 38mph after that its just like stock. ss4000 locks up at what 45mph? Either way after lockup its the same as stock so no 80mph at 6 grand lol

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but how does a stalled car act before lock up? How exactly is a converter "loose"? I don't get it lol.

it slips is the easiest way to describe it. the car revs but moves much slower, like slipping a clutch. the looser it is the more "play" you have in the converter

A stall is just like the difference in launching a manual car at 2000 rpm vs. 4500rpm. Stock converter only allows so much slip before it "hooks" and the car moves, less power less than sub par 60's. launching at 4500rpm however if you have the drivetrain and tires and suspension to hook it will obviously book out a lot faster than at 2000rpm.

this is the easiest way I can explain it without getting into stators, turbine fin angle vs. stall speed and etc. etc.

Converters are simple. You stomp the gas, voodoo happens, and you take off while lifting the front wheels.

lmfao what he said...

I had mine tuned on Tuesday and the tuner (bluecat) said for a 4k stall its pretty tight.. My best advice is to either just do it or be slower than those that have done it.. If your really that worried about it watch video's of a car that has one but the only way to really know for sure is to plant your butt in one.. find someone at the local track that has one or if your close to me I dont care a bit to take you for a ride.. I will be at the track tonight getting times to post results

After about a week I didn't notice mine slipping much more than stock. In a car as heavy as mine it really helps even just starting normally from a stop.

Stock converters are garbage.

If I could start all over, a converter would of been my first mod....

Yes, this is right on and then after the voodoo happens the manual guys call us pussies for driving autos while we cross the finish line before them

Had a 3400 stall put in about 6 weeks ago. Finally had the tune updated over Labor Day weekend. The only thing that bothers me is around 1600 RPM (about 35mph in OD) when the it locks up... it kind of bogs and I have to mash the throttle harder than I ever used to to break it out of lockup, or force a downshift to D3. I think I'm just going to drive around town in D3 from now on. I asked the tuner about it and he said if he prevented it from locking up at low RPMs it would kill my hwy mileage. ...it just seems to lock up so easily now and the engine has to spool up much more to break it out. But other than that, I really love it.

I did my stall a few years back but when I did I picked up a full second from my stock times. I went from 13.6@104mph stock to 12.60@107mph with full bolt-ons, stall and a dyno tune..

I did 1.49 60ft 10.99@122mph on completely stock suspension on my full weight H/C/I stock bottom end Z28 camaro but I bent my torque arm. So I installed a BMR adjustable torque arm and went 1.46 60ft.. 10.90@123mph
