Get a triple disk converter and lock it WOT. Best of both worlds.

Well I took it to the track last night.. Best run was a
1.98 60
5.32 330
8.13 E/T
87.55 mph

I was pretty dissappointed with the numbers.. Traction was a serious issue though.. I really thought I could dip pretty deep into the 7's but guess not...

Mods in sig, let me know if I am off pace or not please

Now the big question.. watch the video.. Launching off idle the car would bite just long enough to bring up the nose and then start blowing the tires off so I started matting the throttle for just a second, then taking my foot completely out of it and almost instantly matting it again.. It was working pretty good for a few runs cause after matting it for the second time it seemed to be hooking pretty good.. On this run and soon as I matted it for the second time the car bogged, then backfired, and then sputtered a bit before it died.. Every light on the dash come on when I launched it.. I did get the car restarted after it died but it didnt want to start.. it cranked forever then finally hit and I drove it off the track, drove it all the way home too.. Everything seems fine with it other than the exhaust note is weird.. I think I blew the packing out of the Borla, if it has packing at all that is..

set of General's 275-40-17 that I treated with diesel fuel and mineral spirits in an attempt to get some more traction out of them... and no I'm not cheap, the class I race in requires a tire with a treadwear of 160 or better so I can't run DR's..

When I bought the car it had new corvette rims and tires, so I don't plan on slicks for a couple more years. So on a dd with street tires how is a stall gonna work? This is what I have trouble understanding. Seeing as no one around here has a stalled ls1 for me to ride in makes this decision difficult.
Contact the michigan F-body association, lots of built and stalled cars in your area, www.mifbody.com join that forum and you will find someone near you. Hope this helps :-)

I never could get street tires to hook behind a converter. That may be all the 60ft you can get out of it.

But other than that, I really love it.
He gave you ridiculous advice. How often do you drive at 35mph on the highway? When I did my first converter, I raised my lock/unlock to 42/39 and drove that way for years. Recently, I went to 45/42 trading a little more looseness around town for less bogging. I like it better.

Like you, I often manually select third gear for freeway onramps and other situations when I don't want lock-up to occur. I tuned out third gear lock-up.

Tell him to make it lock at 40-45mph, and that if he doesn't you'll find someone else that will. It's that simple. It's your car not his, you bought a stall for performance not mpg.

Never seen a car do that before - what caused that? (The stalling then back-firing)

The back firing could be from the fuel not being combusted in the cylinder making the combustion event happen in the hot manifolds, making the combustion event come out the exhaust since it happened closer to the exit of the exhaust.

Anything 3000 and smaller is a waste.

For people that say 4000 is too loose for daily duties and you should stick with a 3600... Do any of you realize how much of a difference there isn't between the two? Unless you drove them back to back, you would never notice the 100-200 rpm difference around town.60' would be about one tenth quick however.

If you want to stick on the small side, 3400.. You have 323s which will help put a little. Or go 373s and 3600. But then you are sacrificing highway mpg. Everything has a trade off.

I love the feeling on a loose converter. Drove my old white car every single day with a 4400 in it for over two years.
I bought my current car with a 4000 in it.

Nobody will buy a car with a converter in it? Lol

Exactly the same as stock.

4000.

And people, stop calling it a stall!! It is a torque converter.

Actually, I closed the cutout and let the old lady drive the car to the store (first time driving it ever) and she said she hardly noticed the SS4k....and she hates anything out of the ordinary. So man up
