Trans comparison
4L60E or 700r4??
I am putting a 5.3 with all car stuff on it into my little Toyota pickup. I don't want to use a manual, simply because I don't like shifting gears, and my truck is an auto and I don't want to add the clutch and all that. I am not going to be trying to race this truck, I just want the wow factor of an LSx and want the power if I need it to make a Mustang or two look stupid!!
Question is, which tranny is better? Just kind of want opinions with a comparison of the two.

They are basically the same trans, the only difference is electronics. 700 uses a TV cable to control shifts and a gear driven speedo, and the 4L uses electronic solenoids for shifts and an electronic VSS for speed calculations.

The 4L60e is a much better transmission. The 4L60e shifts much better because you don't have to worry about the TV cable settings and governor weights to adjust. The 700R4 works better for guys who are going carbureted. The 4L60e can be controlled by the LS1 ECM so it works out pretty well.
