Question Help, Input shaft restrictor

Should you remove the little restricker on the input shaft where the Torque converter sits. I have read that you can remove it and it will help with slipage and heat , Can anyone shoot me a bone on this one, My tranny is down for a new converter and Im wondering if I sahould do this.\

Thanks
