When did GM start using Corvette servo in A4?

I am by no meens an expert on this, however if I understand how these upgraded servos work, they allow more transmission fluid to pass through them, and have a larger surface plate which allows the increased line pressure for a crisper shift.
If I am off base, I would appreciate someone setting me straight.

I can assure you gentlemen that I did not have the Corvette servo in my 2001 Z28. It was verified by the transmission shop that installed my converter. They removed my stock one, disassembled it and showed me the Corvette unit plus a Superior super servo, and asked me which one I wanted. I chose the Superior unit, it was an additional $95 to purchase.

The 2/4 band is applied and released by a hydraulic servo, consisting of fluid pistons and a pin to act against the band. In the "corvette" servo, the 2nd apply piston has a surface area about 35% greater than the standard version. So for the same fluid pressure applied, you get more force on the piston/pin, and therefore more clamping force on the band. You feel this as a "crisper" 1-2 shift.

They are a VERY reputable shop, I ended up going with the Superior Super Servo, which had a larger surface than the Corvette unit. My original servo unit that was in my vehicle was different than the covette unit.
