Stall recommendation
Stall recommendation I'm going to be changing to comp's thumpr cam over the winter and i currently have a stock converter. I need help deciding whether its necessary that i change stalls and which stall i should change to if so? My car is pretty much all stock LS1 with headers and 3in exhaust.
I drive the car often so would this stall be a good choice? And someone recommended it. I do love the sound as well though. Do you have a better choice for a car that is a dd?

3200SS. I went with the 3600SS even tho I had a lot of people tell me it was on the big side for a DD and now I regret it. I will probably pull it out soon and send it back to Yank to get it restalled to 3200. Trust me, if you just DD the car and maybe go to the track just to see what you run, you want the 3200SS. The only difference you will notice between the 3200 and 3600 is the driveability.
Highway gas mileage isn't really going to change with a high stall converter since they lockup at those speeds. The 4.10's have a MUCH bigger effect on gas mileage. I personally wouldn't go any lower than a 3500 stall. Driveability isn't going to be that much different than a lower stall and you would just be sacrificing performance.

I say go at least 3600. I drove my car almost every day this summer with the ss3600. I wanted to go pt4000 but was scared it wouldnt be right for the street. I wonder how I would have liked it but I feel I got the perfect street/strip converter to my knowledge. I put around 10k miles on it so far with the ss3600 and I couldnt imagine going any smaller. It would just be a waste to me.
I agree with this statement. The vig 3600 triple disk is the best dd/track verter for our cars imo. I am buying that converter this week for my car. and its my dd. It is a triple disk so you will mph a little faster at the track. it is a little more expensive then the ss yank. But worth it.
What are your goals for the car?
I just want a nice street car that i can take to the strip occasionally. I am just now getting into mods for the car,I have only had the LS1 for around a year. It sounds like i should go with a 3600. Then choose a cam.

I think that's just what's (at minimum) recommended for the thumpr cam.
We have a few options for you, but sounds like our 245mm 4C 3600-3800 will be a nice choice for your mods and driving habits. But would love to discuss it with you to make sure you are getting exactly what you need. You can shoot me an Ask Chris or give me a call at the shop. G/L
