Default help with my decision needed

So I'm looking at making the switch to a auto from m6. I'm currently looking at two transmissions that are basically the same from what I can tell. I can't decide who to get it from.
I'm looking at a th400 from ATI
and Coan. Both companies are reputable and around the same price ($1400). I'm wanting a full manual valvebody with a tranbrake. Don't care if it's forward or reverse. Its going to be behind a stock lq4 with a t76 Turbo.I'm shooting for 600rwhp on pump and 700 on race gas. But it will hardly be set on kill.
Thanks your guys help is appreciated

Why not buy purchase from a Sponsor here? TH400's aren't complicated at all. You just have to be smarter than what you're fooling with in order to keep one alive.

In addition, I would say that a nice fresh stock unit could take the power you're talking about for years. 750 hp isn't hard to manage at all with a 400.

To answer your question though... Either of the two companies mentioned can handle it. What you really need to consider is the level of customer service that you get when you make a purchase. You are looking for a relationship as much as you are a transmission. Meaning, who can you call when something goes south, someone who will take the time to help you sort out the issues along the way.....

I advertised what you are looking for, already built and dyno'd a few weeks ago. It's $1350 andplus I suspect will more trans than you'll get from the two you mentioned.

I agree Jake. I'm not sure the big box stores give the detailed attention to their units that mom and pop shops like mine and yours put into a unit. There's just something about it when your name is on it when it goes out the door!

Gil,
The one I have on the shelf is rollerized and has a billet forward hub. All my TH400 builds include a deep aluminum pan.
I didn't look at specifics for the other two builds but I bet they don't have the billet hub.
The unit I have for sale is $300 off my normal price.

That's a real typical build that I like to do myself. Nothing outrageous and it'll take a punishment for years if it isn't abused. Yeah I rarely look at what other shops put into their old school units myself.

What a lot of guys fail to understand is the value of the relationship between a good tranny builder who knows drag racing and is a racer as opposed to someone who sits behind a desk and copies other peoples builds. I see that a lot around these parts.

I need to get with you on that valve body we talked about back in the summer when we were on the phone. I have just the car I want to put it in.
