Hi is anyone running a yank ss3600 with 3.07 rear?Yank recommended me the 3600 for my Ls1 bolt ons only,now how would this go with such a tall gear ratio and will the heat cook my tranny without gears?I just dont have the coin for gears as well atm.

 

That gear will be fine.

Get a transmission cooler, it is a must.

It won't be too bad... It's all personal opinion.

I daily drove 323s and a 4400 converter for 4 months and it didn't bother me. I like the loose converter feeling.

If you don't like it after a month or two, start saving for some 373s or 342 rear end.

 

3.23s' are very acceptable to use a Yank 3600 with. Gotta remember that there are 2.73s' running that convertor,if 3.23s' make that convertor feel 'loose',imagine how 'loose' it feels with 2.73s'.
I'm running a Yank SS3600 with 4.56s' and it feels as tight as the OEM convertor when I had 3.23s'. The 3.23s' are going back in (soon ?) as I've been running the 4.56s' for 4 years now,time to change. The 4.56 rearend is gonna get 3.73s' and another rear I have is gonna get 2.73s'.

I have 2.73 and Yank 3600. Not sure if it was related buy the trans died 1,000 miles after install(85k miles and 1 track pass on the converter). Not going to blame it on the converter tho. you will notice a difference no doubt. Clearly with my gears its huge. I always try to keep the car under 2k when accelerating and im a very conservative driver on the street and yes people get mad when i accelerate so slow, but if you want to go fast prepare for the RPMS to be high. I got used to the feeling in a week and now i love it. When other people drive the car they think its awful but wow did it make a difference in performance.

I have 3.23 and a 3600 EDGE and it RIPS **** apart out of the hole. Very strong.

I'm sure it wouldn't hook on the street like it does now with 3.73, maybe with 3.42 buts it's almost perfect now.

 

You guys running stock or built trannys with this converter???

We all no heat is our biggest enemy with the 4l60e as this was a main concern with me goin a ss3600 with 3.07 rear.Cruising around at low speeds is going to put some heat into the ol faithful A4.May have to go bigger cooler again or run 2.Anyone use a deeper pan with there stock box?

 

I would suggest using 1 cooler. The biggest one you can fit.

 

Just run a big cooler. My trans lasted several years with a Yank stall and me beating the living **** out of it every single day. The 3rd and 4th gear clutches finally gave out at 188k miles. But that happens to bone stock 4l60's and I have all bolt ons, gears, stall, drag radials, go to the track, and drive it hard everywhere.

You will love that converter even with those gears. It will have a loose feeling but personally I like it. I have a SS3800

And above someone posted about trying to accelerate and stay under 2k RPM's... I have no clue what he is talking about or what the point is of that, just put the converter in, put a big cooler on it, and drive the hell out of it. Be prepared to invest in lots of rear tires though.

1.75 with a little tire spin, full weight, a system, and stock internal motor.

 

does a ss3600 require a pcm tune on a stock daily driver? 3.23 gears.

 

Yes, you're going to want a tune for the converter. I have that same set up and daily drove the car all summer and with a frost tune and it drove great. if you have a tuner close to you, you should do there, or just send you pcm to frost.
