what tranny setup?
4l80e if you can get everything cheap enough if you want to never worry about it again IMO. You could probably get away with a junkyard 80 and a rebuild kit/better 3-4 clutch pack.
For that horsepower level a good built 4L60e will have a very long happy life. Stock 4L80e transmissions still fail. A mildly built 4L80e will be required to put it in and forget it. Just dumping a stock 80e in the car isn't always the end all solution. Our Level 5 4L60e transmissions are rated at 600rwhp and have long happy lives in 4th gens in the 500-600hp range. If you have any questions about anything please feel free to ask.
I agree with Jeremy. I've seen a flip in the market whereby the 60e has become some sort of a whipping boy. It's easy to rag on it when in fact it's the best choice for many guys. There are only a handful of guys that I would recommend a swap to another unit.
Whats funny to me is the sheer number of guys who hack a th400 or th350 into their car only to scream about driveability and mileage then go to something else when all they needed was a good builder and tuner for their 60e in the first place.
The bottom line is the 60e is a good transmission if its built by someone who knows what he is doing. Lots of guys can take them apart and put them back together. And they get frustrated after spending money on good parts... But they didnt spend the money on the correct labor to build it and thats why the tranny has a bad rap.

i see what yall are saying. what would i need to build my stock tranny? and roughly what is the cost? i really dont mind spending money on my car, i just want to have an idea of what is needed and around how much it costs.
