Default New Trans Mount

I put an Energy Suspension Trans mount on last night. In order for the trans cross member to go back on I had to jack the trans up a few inches, now the exhaust is rattling on the floor of the car. I've considered pulling out the supplied preload plate since that would let the trans sit a little bit lower......
3-1108G was the mount I used and the car does still have the factory mounts for now if that matters.

Anyone else have similar issues?

Factory motor mounts and poly trans mount don't go well together.

Well this winter I plan to upgrade the engine mounts but it just seemed odd that the new mount makes the trans sit that much higher than the stocker

I jus purchased a Prothane Trans mount that I'm bout to install soon. According to the instructions as well as I've seen online it Says NOT to use the plate that comes with it. Yours may be different jus double check the instructions and/or do search here for it.

take the preload plate out that will make it sit higher then the factory mount would have when it was brand new. See what happens. You also have to remember that you are putting a brand new mount in there and the old one was probally wore out and possibly sagging.

Well it's getting poly motor mounts this winter.....I don't mind the poly trans mount, just the exhaust vibrating on the floor. Im gonna pull the preload spacer out and then I should be good to go

Its not the vibration that was turning me off of the poly trans mount. Its the fact that the poly mount wont allow the same flex as the stock rubber. If you search here long enough theres some evidence on this. I guess the tail on the trans can break if theres not enough flex allowed by the trans mount.

you want a stiffer MM than a TM... if the motor flexes more than the tranny, you get cracked tail shafts....OP, you sir, are one good wheel hop away from a big *** mess...

it's going away for the winter in another week, it'll have polly mm's in the spring.......I just wanted to cure the sound of the trans trying to come through the floor with the wasted stock mount before I parked it
