Strange problem with 4l60E, third gear.
Today me and the lady went on a trip to her folks house, a 200 mile highway drive.
Cruising at 75 with no problems, I set the cruise control, after a few miles I noticed the RPMS bouncing.
I immediately exited the free way and noticed the tranny began to free spin, after coming to a complete stop, it down shifted to first and I began to accelerate, and the 1-2 shift was firm as normal, but the 2-3 spun freely, letting off I felt it downshift to 1st.
I was then able to accelerate hard, and it shifted all gears normally under acceleration. This continued the whole trip, if I soft pedaled it 2-3 would slip, if I was firm in it, normal shifts.
I have no idea what this can be, as I forced it to limp mode and 3rd gear was fine.
CLIFF NOTES: Car will only shift into third under acceleration.
No metal in the pan, fluid seemed to be fresh, smelled clean.
Only strange thing I noticed was there was no magnet in the pan.
STILL doing the same thing.
Any ideas? My wallet can afford a rebuild right now.

I cant afford for the car to be down for to long as it is my daily, and with Christmas around the corner I don't have 2k to drop on a rebuild.
How hard would it be to pull the tranny? Maybe buy a rebuild and do a swap.
Seriously, you're too close to me to not give me a call and discuss your options in great detail. I understand you just bought the car. I understand you just experienced issues with a major powertrain component. I get that, I earn my living every day just like the next guy.
