TH400 shield or blanket?
I had to pull the trans on Sat to replace the converter, my NA converter and the blower just made it laughable to drive. Looks like room in the tunnel for a TH and blanket. I have the rental on Friday I told you about but after that my buddy has a TH400 I may use for mockup over the winter. Need to measure driveshaft length, etc..
It seems like the best option, especially for you not being a street car! Cant beat the price on them for the power they can handle. I cant see buying a new 6L80 or paying to have one built and even that may not hold the power.
Really rather have a shield than a blanket if possible. That blanket will retain soooo much heat.
Just some info not sure how far you've delved into this.
The trans lengths are pretty damn close, within 1/4". 6L80 is listed at 29.25" while the TH400 is listed at 29" but my buddy just measured the TH400 he has sitting and its 29.25" same as 6L80. Since they are the same length you could adopt a Driveshaft shop axle which has a u-joint on the trans end to a Th400 output yoke like this: http://www.dennysdriveshaft.com/p69_...pline_wth.html
Theres also a flexplate with the proper fitment: http://www.tciauto.com/tc/engine-pro...-approved.html
Lose almost 100lbs doing the swap too!

Depending on what converter you plan to use there is a spacer to keep the pilot aligned.
