honestly they are all the same. it just depends on what youre doing. do you need clutches, steels or just gaskets and sealing rings. i run a transmission shop and most of our transmission use stock clutches and steels. all companys buy their gaskets and sealing rings from the same company so thats what i mean when i say they are all the same.

go to probuilt. he sells some good kits.make sure you check to see if the over-run piston is cracked!and if you go with the beast sunshell (which everyone swears by) i will tell you its not heat treated and it will warp with heat.sonnax makes a better shell.

the beast is good but you dont need it. the gm shell in the newer 4l60s are better than they used to be. also the problem with the sunshell isnt that they warp its they crack and strip off the splined area causing a no 2nd,4th, or reverse. the new shell is stronger in that area. i dont see many of them broken like the older ones used to all the time. unless you make a lot of power you will be ok.

Yea i did hear good things about probuilt,so i will definitely check out his kits.My car is pretty much stock other than exhaust, slp lid, plug wires, and underdrive pullies.I plan on keeping it that way for now but I am looking for some thing that will handle atleast 400whp in case i do future mods.I'm just trying to get some info on some kits before I make my final decision. But thanks for the info guys.

the beast isn't good.IMO sure its better than stock.sure the spline area wont crack.but it WILL WARP and the fingers on the ends arent heat treated like the heavy duty sonnax shell is.the stock gm one is crap.(old style)

Ive worked at a transmission shop for ten years, have built hundreds of transmissions and this is the first time ive ever heard anyone complain about the fingers on the end of the shell warping and being a problem. that must be one hell of a motor youve got there. i dont even remember having a beast come back broken. for most shops building 500-600hp the beast has been fine for years. as for mild 300-400 hp the newer gm shell has worked just fine. maybe im missing something here.

If you have installed a Beast and you have a third gear vibration and the vibreation is gone in fourth, then the Beast will be the problem because it is not balanced. The Beast is ok, but is heavy and as I stated, not balanced. I have found the late heat treated GM sunshell (bearing and washer type) to be an excellent choice. I have one is a mid 9 second 1996 Firebird (1.22 - 1.28 sixty foot times) with over 3,000 passes and no problems. I have not had a failure with one as of yet. The build kits that I offer are tailored to match what you have (motor, horsepower, torque converter, rear end gear ratio, etc.). How you drive: Conservative, Moderate, Moderately aggressive, Or aggressive. These are all factors when it comes to separator plate feed hole sizes and accumulation, and other needed modifications if the horsepower is higher than 650, or in a very heavy vehicle, or you drive very aggressively.
