Default What triggers the converter to unlock?

Im running in to an issue, and want to know where to look to correct it. My converter locks up at 40mph under normal driving, when I coast to a lower speed, it doesnt unlock. What is supposed to trigger it to unlock? Am i wrong in thinking it should unlock on slowing?

Heres what I got:

01 WS.6, Lid, Stock MAF, AFR 205s, 224/228, Stock LS1, Yank SS3600, FLT Level 3, 3.73s.

It unlocks based on the vehicle speed. How low of a speed do you have to go before it unlocks? Stock it should release at 35mph, hitting the brake or wide open. With a tune it depends on what the tuner did.

Too low of vehicle speed, operator hitting the brake pedal, or too high an increase in throttle position will all cause it to unlock.

SPEED. THROTTLE POSITION , RPM and if you depress the brake pedal. Other things that will unlock it is engine missfire or perceived like a cam can cause.

Thanks for the input so far. Tapping the brake pedal unlocks it instantly, and giving it more throttle unlocks it as well, so everything is fine there.

Im going to get with my tuner, and see where the unlock is set. Its possible that it is just set too low, and I didnt notice until now.

Had a Circle D 3400 Stage I installed. Lockup was driving me crazy, bogging and clunking... Took it to the tuner, had him move the lock/unlock to something like 47/45 mph and it was much, much better. I think there are different parameters they can set for D3 and OD.

Thats exactly what its doing.

I spoke to my tuner, and he confirmed that it was set close to stock unlock settings, which wasnt a big deal. I never noticed it before, because I didnt spend much time at those speeds. Now, I live about 2 miles from the freeway, and its all about 35-40 mph residential zone, so now Im in the bad spot alot LOL

Thanks for all the input every body, I had a feeling it was tune related, and now its confirmed.. Guess Ill be giving Virginia Speed a call sooner than later! I wanted to get tuned for 93 octane anyway.
