i see a lot of info on one and the other but not much on going from th400 to 4l80e...

what all can i use from my current th400 setup if i decide to go 4l80e? i know the shifter obviously will have to be changed back to stock or something else. i know the converter needs to be changed..

will the driveshaft work? will the trans brace/mount work? dipstick? anything else i might be missing?

 

whatever shifter you have will work with a change of gates..
or you may just want to put in a different shifter if your current one does not have interchangeable gates on it.

you will need a different driveshaft and trans crossmember..not sure about the dipstick...
need a different converter as well.. different front plate, different pilot.

 

i have a cheeta shifter now.

Look for my thread 4l80 on the cheapo. No on the cross member, no on the driveshaft, maybe on the shifter, maybe on the dipstick.

good haha, working a lot. i'm still debating it. might just get my th400 rebuilt by a friend for now then save up for the 4l80e.
