Default another 4l60e problem please help. wierd problem

Well I just got done putting longtubes, ory, and a 3600 stall on. And the first problem I ran into was it would hit the rev limiter on the 2-3 shift but only of I laid into it. If not it shifted fine but seemed like it either wasn't locking up or not shifting into overdrive. So I called the stall company and was told it needed to be tuned so I got a mail order tune and put it in today and drive it for a total of a half hour to get gas the first 20 mins it drove perfect. A hundred times better then it started not shifting into overdrive again. And a minute or so after that it wouldn't upshift anymore and I ended up having to drive the last 5 mins with it in either first or second gear at 20mph at 2500rpm. And if I gave any more gas it felt like it went into neutral. So I got it home checked the fluid and it was perfect not low or high and looked brand new. Didn't smell burnt or anything. So called the very reputable tuner and they said it had nothing to do with the tune and that their was a huge problem with my transmission. But the part I don't understand is it was fine before the converter and after the converter other than the wot 2-3 shift and it not staying in lock up (2500rpm at 55mph) it was fine and had been rebuilt about 8000 miles ago. So after letting it sit for a little while I took it down the road to see if anything had changed and to show a friend. This time it would shift from 1 to 2 fine but would get close to shifting into 3rd and it felt like it would fall out of gear into neutral and would not shift to 3rd. I am at a loss. At this point I don't even know what to think or what to check first. Some one please help.

Well, I'm afraid your Tuner is correct... at least close enough that we need to start looking real hard at the 3/4 clutches. What you thought was is falling out of lock-up was most likely the 3/4 clutches simply not holding, same for the 2-3 shift.

To begin with, what is the fluid level and fluid condition? If the fluid is remotely burned smelling or even has a faint discoloration to it then the unit is wounded and needs to be removed for disassembly and repair. Is it still under warranty? Who built it 8 months ago?

Flluid level is perfect, no burning smell and the fluid is perfect red with not even a tint to it. The biulder was a teacher at a cm tech school. And was about 8k miles ago not months.

Could the converter be the blame? All was fine before that went in and that was only about 20 miles ago.

I still think the wierdest part is that it drove fine for like 10 or 15 mins. Also. When I did the converter I only added the fluid I needed and used valvoline should I maybe try to drain everything out and change the screen? It has not been changed since the rebuild 8k ago.

I just don't understand how it could happen so suddenly with the addition of the other parts and not be one of thief faults but I .know nothing about transmissions so what does my opinion mean.

I have the same problem right now as we speak. Rebuilt trans about a month ago and the car hits the rev limiter on 2-3 shift. No service engine light codes, trans fluid level is perfect, changed the TPS and still no luck.

Anyone? Fluid is not burnt it is at normal level and is not discolored at all. Shifts through 1st and 2nd fine then feels like it goes into neutral when it should shift to 3rd. Was told it may be a shift solinoid and the trans is in limp mode. And way of testing them without draining the pan.

Any more help with this problem? Tomorrow im got to get a pressure manifold sensor installed, VSS, EPC solenoid, and change the fluid again.

I changed the shift solenoids during the rebuild but they were CHEAP EBAY sensors. Anyone think that could be the problem?

try going to someone with a tech II, perhaps they could scan it and see what the transmission is trying to do and help diagnose it.

I got off the phone with Gilbert @ ace today and he says its 3-4 clutches. So I guess its time to order a built trans.
Bernarlitt. Give Gilbert a call he is great to talk to. Maybe he can sort out Yur problems too. Hope everything works out for you and good luck.

ask your tuner if he deleted these codes ( p0751 and/or p0757 ) Do a search on them if you would like. I had the same issue with the P0751. I think I had only 2nd and 3rd gear, no OD and no T/C lock-up. I just tuned both those codes out and never had the issue again. As far as hitting the rev limiter feel, my tuner deleted torque management and problem solved.
